Release Notes:
- vim: Add `ctrl-v`/`ctrl-q` to type any unicode code point. For example
`ctrl-v escape` inserts an escape character(U+001B), or `ctrl-v u 1 0 E
2` types ტ (U+10E2). As in vim `ctrl-v ctrl-j` inserts U+0000 not
U+000A. Zed does not yet implement insertion of the vim-specific
representation of the typed keystroke for other keystrokes.
- vim: Add `ctrl-shift-v` as an alias for paste on Linux
Closes#13579
A major painpoint in the Vim crate has been life-cycle management. We
used to have one global Vim instance that tried to track per-editor
state; this led to a number of subtle issues (e.g. #13579, the mode
indicator being global, and quick toggling between windows letting vim
mode's notion of the active editor get out of sync).
This PR changes the internal structure of the code so that there is now
one `Vim` instance per `Editor` (stored as an `Addon`); and the global
stuff is separated out. This fixes the above problems, and tidies up a
bunch of the mess in the codebase.
Release Notes:
* vim: Fixed accidental visual mode in project search and go to
references
([#13579](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/13579)).
Release Notes:
- Added the current operator stack to the Vim status bar at the bottom
of the editor. #4447
This commit introduces a new feature that displays the current partial
command in the vim mode, similar to the behavior in Vim plugin. This
helps users keep track of the commands they're entering.
These primarily happen when first entering visual mode, but can also
be created with objects like `vi{`.
Along the way fix the way ranges like `vi{` are selected to be more
similar to nvim.
View handles are window specific but this global will be doing things
in all windows, that would cause a panic when it attempted to update
a status bar mode indicator in a background window

One of the problems we had is that the status_bar shows a gap between
items, and we want to not add an additional gap for an invisible status
indicator.
