This removes around 900 unnecessary clones, ranging from cloning a few
ints all the way to large data structures and images.
A lot of these were fixed using `cargo clippy --fix --workspace
--all-targets`, however it often breaks other lints and needs to be run
again. This was then followed up with some manual fixing.
I understand this is a large diff, but all the changes are pretty
trivial. Rust is doing some heavy lifting here for us. Once I get it up
to speed with main, I'd appreciate this getting merged rather sooner
than later.

This pull request introduces changes to improve the behavior and
consistency of multiple completion providers
(`CopilotCompletionProvider`, `SupermavenCompletionProvider`) and their
integration with UI elements like menus and inline completion buttons.
It now allows to see the prediction with the completion menu open whilst
pressing `opt` and also enables the subtle/eager setting that was
introduced with zeta.
Edit: I managed to get the preview working with correct icons!

This adds a "workspace-hack" crate, see
[mozilla's](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/3a265fdc9f33e5946f0ca0a04af73acd7e6d1a39/build/workspace-hack/Cargo.toml#l7)
for a concise explanation of why this is useful. For us in practice this
means that if I were to run all the tests (`cargo nextest r
--workspace`) and then `cargo r`, all the deps from the previous cargo
command will be reused. Before this PR it would rebuild many deps due to
resolving different sets of features for them. For me this frequently
caused long rebuilds when things "should" already be cached.
To avoid manually maintaining our workspace-hack crate, we will use
[cargo hakari](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari) to update the build files
when there's a necessary change. I've added a step to CI that checks
whether the workspace-hack crate is up to date, and instructs you to
re-run `script/update-workspace-hack` when it fails.
Finally, to make sure that people can still depend on crates in our
workspace without pulling in all the workspace deps, we use a `[patch]`
section following [hakari's
instructions](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari/0.9.36/cargo_hakari/patch_directive/index.html)
One possible followup task would be making guppy use our
`rust-toolchain.toml` instead of having to duplicate that list in its
config, I opened an issue for that upstream: guppy-rs/guppy#481.

* Removes discarding of edit predictions when going from insert mode to

There's still a bit more work to do on this, but this PR is compiling
(with warnings) after eliminating the key types. When the tasks below
are complete, this will be the new narrative for GPUI:
- `Entity<T>` - This replaces `View<T>`/`Model<T>`. It represents a unit
of state, and if `T` implements `Render`, then `Entity<T>` implements
`Element`.
- `&mut App` This replaces `AppContext` and represents the app.
- `&mut Context<T>` This replaces `ModelContext` and derefs to `App`. It
is provided by the framework when updating an entity.
- `&mut Window` Broken out of `&mut WindowContext` which no longer
exists. Every method that once took `&mut WindowContext` now takes `&mut
Window, &mut App` and every method that took `&mut ViewContext<T>` now
takes `&mut Window, &mut Context<T>`
Not pictured here are the two other failed attempts. It's been quite a
month!
Tasks:
- [x] Remove `View`, `ViewContext`, `WindowContext` and thread through
`Window`
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Redraw window when entities change
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Get examples and Zed running

This fixes the issue described in this comment:
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/22439#issuecomment-2563896422
Essentially, we'd clip in the wrong direction when there were multi-line
inlay hints.
It also fixes inline completions for non-Zeta-providers showing up in
normal mode.
Release Notes:
- N/A
This changes #22093 by making the change only have an effect for the
supported provider: Zeta.
Made the change because the UX is still experimental and I don't want to
break existing workflows for Copilot/Supermaven users.
Even Zeta users can opt-out of it by setting
`"show_inline_completions_in_menu": false` in their settings, in case
they want the old show-inline-completion-or-show-lsp-completion behavior
back.
Release Notes:
- N/A
This PR extracts the `InlineCompletionProvider` trait and its related
types out of `editor` and into a new `inline_completion` crate.
By doing so we're able to remove a dependency on `editor` from the
`copilot` and `supermaven` crates.
We did have to move `editor::Direction` into the `inline_completion`
crate, as it is referenced by the `InlineCompletionProvider`. This
should find a better home, at some point.
Release Notes:

Caps the size of the Supermaven states buffer to 1000 elements.
Previously, the buffer would grow unbounded so for long sessions the
number of states that the Supermaven autocomplete provider maintains can
be quite large. In practice, states that are sufficiently old are so
unlikely to be visited again that we can regenerate the completion.
Thus, we can cap the buffer to 1000 elements.

Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/8534
Supersedes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/16349
Potential concerns:
* we do not follow up to the `/` when looking for `.editorconfig`, only
up to the worktree root.
Seems fine for most of the cases, and the rest should be solved
generically later, as the same issue exists for settings.json
* `fn language` in `AllLanguageSettings` is very hot, called very
frequently during rendering. We accumulate and parse all `.editorconfig`
file contents beforehand, but have to go over globs and match these
against the path given + merge the properties still.
This does not seem to be very bad, but needs more testing and
potentially some extra caching.

- Added .editorconfig support

Closes#19051Closes#19182
#### How to reproduce this crash:
1. Open any file and input some ASCII characters.
2. Replace these characters with `你好`.
3. Press `backspace`.
4. Crash.
https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/ea5c5340-29a5-42c8-98c5-6e60770445a4
The issue lies with the `prefix_offset` introduced in #18858. After the
buffer is modified, this value is not always valid and may fall within a
`char boundary`, which results in a crash.
Release Notes:
- Fixed Supermaven crashing on deleting non-ASCII text
Track the cursor offset before biasing in the Supermaven completion
provider to better determine if the text should be suggested. The
underlying issue here is due to the way anchor biasing works, the
completion provider is not able to determine if a given suggestion's
cursor location no longer exists as it is always coalesced to a correct
location (specifically, the end of the line).
This change updates that logic so the offset is stored independently of
the buffer so it can be used to represent a location that may not exist
in the buffer anymore to represent locations that have been deleted.
The net effect is that suggestions can be backspaced much more cleanly
with Supermaven.

Release Notes:
- Improves https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/17981 to prevent
suggesting completions based on out-of-date cursor locations.
Updates the inline completion provider to return a completion proposal
which is then converted to a completion state. This completion proposal
includes more detailed information about which inlays specifically
should be rendered.
Release Notes:
- Added support for fill-in-the-middle style inline completions

Closes#16194

1. Updated the download process to retrieve the `.exe` file, as the API
response indicates that the `.exe` file should be downloaded on Windows.

2. Modified the startup behavior of supermaven to prevent the cmd window
from appearing.

This will throw off the past results for accepted / dismissed that I was
wanting to use to evaluate Supermaven quality, by comparing its rate
with copilot's rate.
I'm not super thrilled with this fix, but I think it'll do. In the
`supermaven_completions_provider`, we check if there's a `completion_id`
before sending either an accepted or discard completion event. I don't
see a similar construct in the `copilot_completions_provider` to
piggyback off of, so I begrudgingly introduced
`should_allow_event_to_send` and had it follow the same pattern that
`completion_id` does. Maybe there's a better way?
