Now if you click the triangle you get runnables, if you click the
lightning bolt you get code actions, if you trigger the code actions
menu with the mouse/keyboard you still get both.
Release Notes:
- Fixed the run/code actions menu to not duplicate content when opened
from the respective icons.

This PR makes it a lot cleaner to write code completion tests. It
doesn't contain any logical changes, just refactoring.
Before, we used to depend on hard-coded values of fuzzy score and its
positions for tests. Now we don't need them, as fuzzy crate will handle
that for us. This is possible because fuzzy match score isn't dependent
on relative candidates or the number of candidates; rather, it's just a
one-to-one mapping for each candidate and its score.
This also makes it test robust for future purposes if there are changes
in fuzzy score logic.
Before:
```rs
SortableMatch {
string_match: StringMatch { // -> whole struct provided by fuzzy crate
candidate_id: 1115,
score: 1.0,
positions: vec![],
string: "Item".to_string(),
},
is_snippet: false, // -> changed to snippet kind
sort_text: Some("16"),
sort_kind: 3, // -> changed to function, constant, variable kind
sort_label: "Item",
},
```
After:
```rs
CompletionBuilder::function("Item", "16")
```

Closes#15549
Release Notes:
- Fixed completions menu closing on typing after being requested while
`show_completions_on_input: false`.
Also adds reuse of the markdown documentation cache even when
completions are re-queried, so that markdown documentation doesn't
flicker when `is_incomplete: true` (completions provided by rust
analyzer always set this)
Release Notes:
- Added support for filtering language server completions instead of
re-querying.
Related to #31460 and #28635.
Release Notes:
- Fixed redraw delay of documentation from language server completions
and added caching to reduce flicker when using arrow keys to change
selection.
Closes#31460
While this is now much better than it was, the documentation still
flickers when changing selection. Hoping to fix that, but it will be a
much more involved change. So leaving release notes as "N/A" for now, in
anticipation of the full fix.

Editing JSON styles is not very helpful for bringing style changes back
to the actual code. This PR adds a buffer that pretends to be Rust,
applying any style attribute identifiers it finds. Also supports
completions with display of documentation. The effect of the currently
selected completion is previewed. Warning diagnostics appear on any
unrecognized identifier.

Adds a `#[derive_inspector_reflection]` macro which allows these methods
to be enumerated and called by their name. The macro code changes were
95% generated by Zed Agent + Opus 4.
Release Notes:
* Added an element inspector for development. On debug builds,
`dev::ToggleInspector` will open a pane allowing inspecting of element
info and modifying styles.
Closes#27631
We use `widest_completion_ix` to figure out completion menu width. This
results in flickering between frames as more information about
completion items, such as signatures, is populated asynchronously. There
is no way to know this width or which item will be widest beforehand.
While using a hardcoded value feels like a backward approach, it results
in a far smoother experience. VSCode also uses fixed width for
completion menu.

Rendering as markdown gives us text selection and copying for free. In
the future, we may want to explore having these commands be actual
editors, allowing you to step in, change the command, and re-run it
right from there.
Release Notes:

copyable.
Closes#29725
Adds 3 more tests for Rust `into` and `await` cases, and Python
`__init__` case. Tweaks sort logic to accommodate them.
Release Notes:
- Improved code completion sort order, handling more cases with Rust and
Python.
Added `snippet_sort_order`, which determines how snippets are sorted
relative to other completion items. It can have the values `top`,
`bottom`, or `inline`, with `inline` being the default.
This mimics VS Code’s setting:
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editing/intellisense#_snippets-in-suggestions
Release Notes:
- Added support for `snippet_sort_order` to control snippet sorting
behavior in code completion menus.
This PR adds the `FeatureFlag` suffix to the feature flag types that
were missing them.
This makes the names easier to search in the codebase.

Closes#27994, #29050, #27352, #27616
This PR implements new logic for code completions, which improve cases
where local variables, etc LSP based hints are not shown on top of code
completion menu. The new logic is explained in comment of code.
This new sort is similar to VSCode's completions sort where order of
sort is like:
Fuzzy > Snippet > LSP sort_key > LSP sort_text
whenever two items have same value, it proceeds to use next one as tie
breaker. Changing fuzzy score from float to int based makes it possible
for two items two have same fuzzy int score, making them get sorted by
next criteria.
Release Notes:
- Improved code completions to prioritize LSP hints, such as local
variables, so they appear at the top of the list.
In light of making context not move dynamically, reverting back these
changes.
- Doing it async will lead to a loading state, which moves the context
menu.
- Doing it sync introduces noticeable lag in opening the context menu.
Future idea is to introduce fixed code actions like refactor, rewrite,
etc depending on code action kind [(see
more)](https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#codeActionKind)
which will use submenus.

Adds actions so you can have customized keybindings for `insert` and
`replace` modes.
And add `shift-enter` as a default for `replace`, this will override the
default setting
`completions.lsp_insert_mode` which is set to `replace_suffix`, which
tries to "smartly"
decide whether to replace or insert based on the surrounding text.
For those who come from VSCode, if you want to mimic their behavior, you
only have to
set `completions.lsp_insert_mode` to `insert`.
If you want `tab` and `enter` to do different things, you need to remap
them, here is
an example:
```jsonc
[
// ...
{
"context": "Editor && showing_completions",
"bindings": {
"enter": "editor::ConfirmCompletionInsert",
"tab": "editor::ConfirmCompletionReplace"
}
},
]
```
Closes#24577
- [x] Make LSP completion insertion mode decision in guest's machine
(host is currently deciding it and not allowing guests to have their own
setting for it)
- [x] Add shift-enter as a hotkey for `replace` by default.
- [x] Test actions.
- [x] Respect the setting being specified per language, instead of using
the "defaults".
- [x] Move `insert_range` of `Completion` to the Lsp variant of
`.source`.
- [x] Fix broken default, forgotten after
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/27453#pullrequestreview-2736906628,
should be `replace_suffix` and not `insert`.
Release Notes:
- LSP completions: added actions `ConfirmCompletionInsert` and
`ConfirmCompletionReplace` that control how completions are inserted,
these override `completions.lsp_insert_mode`, by default, `shift-enter`
triggers `ConfirmCompletionReplace` which replaces the whole word.
This PR removes the retained `MarkdownStyle` on the `Markdown` entity in
favor of using the `MarkdownElement` directly and passing the
`MarkdownStyle` to it.
This makes it so switching themes will be reflected live in the code
block styles.

I wanted this for CONL (https://conl.dev )'s nascent langauge server,
and it seems like most of the support was already wired up on the LSP
side, so this surfaces it into the editor.
Release Notes:
- Added support for the `insert_text_mode` field of completions from the
language server protocol.
Before this change, the editor completion menu and gutter menus reversed their order so that the initial selection is near the user's focus. This change instead displays these menus in a consistent top-to-bottom order because the following benefits outweigh that benefit:
* Matches behavior of some other editors (Neovim and VSCode).
* Looks better for lexicographic lists.
* Keeps the meaning of keyboard interaction consistent, if the user is anticipating the order of the menu's contents.
Could consider making this configurable in the future if desired.

Closes#24794
We now don't filter matches provided by the fuzzy matcher, as it already
performs most of the filtering for us. Instead, the custom logic we
previously used for filtering is now used to partition, where before
discarded matches will be appended at end of list.

TODO:

- [x] Implement it in the whole app
- [x] Implement it in the debugger
- [x] Glance at the RPC crate, and see if those box future methods can

AsyncFn* into a trait object. There's ways around that, but they're all
more complex than just keeping the code as is.

To the left is current Zed, right is the improved version.
3rd message, from Zed, to resolve the item, does not have `textEdit` on
the right side, and has one on the left.
Seems to not influence the end result though, but at least Zed behaves
more appropriate now.

Instead of modifying the original LSP completion item, store completion
list defaults and apply them when the item is requested (except `data`
defaults, needed for resolve).
Now, the only place that can modify the completion items is this method,
and Python impl seems to be the one doing it:
ca9c3af56f/crates/languages/src/python.rs (L182-L204)
Seems ok to leave untouched for now.
Release Notes:
- Fixed LSP completion items modified before resolve request
A preparation for https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/4957 that
pushes all LSP-related data out from the basic completion item, so that
it's possible to create completion items without any trace of LSP
clearly.

The language::markdown crate had been superceded by markdown::Mardown.
After #25117, the only two remaining use-cases were rendering git commit
messages (which are arguably not really markdown) and the signature help
(which is definitely not markdown).
Updated the former to use the new markdown component, and the latter to
do syntax highlighting manually.
Release Notes:
- Allow selecting the commit message in git commits
Closes#18641
Contributes: #13194
Release Notes:
- Open LSP documentation file links in Zed not the system opener
- Render completion documentation markdown consistently with
documentation markdown
- [x] snake case keymap properties
- [x] flatten actions
- [x] keymap migration + notfication
- [x] settings migration + notification
- [x] inline completions -> edit predictions
### future:
- keymap notification doesn't show up on start up, only on keymap save.
this is existing bug in zed, will be addressed in seperate PR.
Release Notes:
- Added a notification for deprecated settings and keymaps, allowing you
to migrate them with a single click. A backup of your existing keymap
and settings will be created in your home directory.
- Modified some keymap actions and settings for consistency.

This PR adds a new `inline_completions.inline_preview` config which can
be set to `auto` (current behavior) or to `when_holding_modifier`.
When set to the latter, instead of showing edit prediction previews
inline in the buffer, we'll show it in a popover (even when there's no
LSP completion) so your isn't constantly moving as completions arrive.
