gpui: Introduce PlatformKeyboardLayout trait for human-friendly keyboard layout names (#29049)
This PR adds a new `PlatformKeyboardLayout` trait with two methods:
`id(&self) -> &str` and `name(&self) -> &str`. The `id()` method returns
a unique identifier for the keyboard layout, while `name()` provides a
human-readable name. This distinction is especially important on
Windows, where the `id` and `name` can be quite different. For example,
the French layout has an `id` of `0000040C`, which is not
human-readable, whereas the `name` would simply be `French`. Currently,
the existing `keyboard_layout()` method returns what's essentially the
same as `id()` in this new design.

This PR implements the `name()` method for both Windows and macOS. On
Linux, for now, `name()` still returns the same value as `id()`.

Add workspace-hack (#27277)
This adds a "workspace-hack" crate, see
[mozilla's](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/3a265fdc9f33e5946f0ca0a04af73acd7e6d1a39/build/workspace-hack/Cargo.toml#l7)
for a concise explanation of why this is useful. For us in practice this
means that if I were to run all the tests (`cargo nextest r
--workspace`) and then `cargo r`, all the deps from the previous cargo
command will be reused. Before this PR it would rebuild many deps due to
resolving different sets of features for them. For me this frequently
caused long rebuilds when things "should" already be cached.

To avoid manually maintaining our workspace-hack crate, we will use
[cargo hakari](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari) to update the build files
when there's a necessary change. I've added a step to CI that checks
whether the workspace-hack crate is up to date, and instructs you to
re-run `script/update-workspace-hack` when it fails.

Finally, to make sure that people can still depend on crates in our
workspace without pulling in all the workspace deps, we use a `[patch]`
section following [hakari's
instructions](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari/0.9.36/cargo_hakari/patch_directive/index.html)

One possible followup task would be making guppy use our
`rust-toolchain.toml` instead of having to duplicate that list in its
config, I opened an issue for that upstream: guppy-rs/guppy#481.

TODO:
- [x] Fix the extension test failure
- [x] Ensure the dev dependencies aren't being unified by Hakari into
the main dependencies
- [x] Ensure that the remote-server binary continues to not depend on
LibSSL

Update cosmic text to 0.13.2 (#27362)
Related #14222

Release Notes:

- This PR updates `cosmic-text` dependency on `gpui` crate from `0.11.2`
to 0.13.2`. This decreases RAM usage zed depending on the amount of
monospace fonts installed on the system. On Arch Linux with `nerd-fonts`
package installed (which provides around 2000 monospaced fonts), it
decreases ram usage from ~800mb to around ~300mb.

Add seed argument to #[gpui::test] attribute macro (#26764)
This PR introduces the arguments `seed` and `seeds` to `gpui::test`,
e.g.:
- `#[gpui::test(seed = 10)]`
- `#[gpui::test(seeds(10, 20, 30, 40))]`

Which allows us to run a test against a specific seed value without
slowing
down our tests like `iterations` does with high values.

This was motivated by a diff hunk test that only fails in a 400+ seed,
but is
slow to run 400+ times for every `cargo test`.

If your test failed with a specific seed, you can now add the `seed` arg
to
increase the chances of detecting a regression.

There are now three ways of setting seeds, the `SEED` env var,
`iterations`,
and the args this PR adds. See docs in `gpui::test`.

---

I also relaxed the limitation on `retries` not working with
`iterations`, as
that seemed unnecessary.

After talking with @as-cii at length about how we want to support
patterns in gpui, we decided for now we'll simply add a new
BackgroundTag specific to this pattern.

It isn't the best long term plan however – we'll likely want to
introduce the concept of a `Fill` at some point so we can have
`Fill::Solid`, `Fill::Gradient(LinearGradient)`, etc in the future.

The pattern is designed to seamlessly tile vertically for elements of
the same height. For example, for use in editor line backgrounds:

Switch to a single GPU context in Blade (#20853)
Closes #17005

Release Notes:

- Improved GPU context management: share a single context with multiple
surfaces.

### High Level

Blade got a proper support for Surface objects in
https://github.com/kvark/blade/pull/203.
That was mainly motivated by Zed needing to draw multiple windows. With
the Surface API, Zed is now able to have the GPU context tied to the
"Platform" instead of "Window". Practically speaking, this means:
  - architecture more sound
  - faster to open/close windows
  - less surprises, more robust

### Concerns

1. Zed has been using a temporary workaround for the platform bug on
some Intel+Nvidia machines that makes us unable to present -
https://github.com/kvark/blade/pull/144 . This workaround is no longer
available with the new architecture. I'm looking for ideas on how to
approach this better.
- we are now picking up the change in
https://github.com/kvark/blade/pull/210, which allows forcing a specific
Device ID. This should allow Zed users to work around the issue. We
could help them to automate it, too.
2. ~~Metal-rs dependency is switched to
https://github.com/kvark/metal-rs/tree/blade, since upstream isn't
responsive in merging changes that are required for Blade. Hopefully,
temporary.~~
- ~~we can also hack around it by just transmuting the texture
references, since we know those are unchanged in the branch. That would
allow Blade to use it's own version of Metal, temporarily, if switching
metal-rs in the workspace is a concern.~~
- merged my metal-rs changes and updated Zed to use the upstream github
reference

Bump x11rb version to v0.13.1 (#21723)
From diff looks like no material differences. With a local checkout of
`v0.13.0` I get build errors due to warning checking when I use a `path
= ...` dependency, but it is fixed with `v0.13.1`.

I see mention of this in the [renovate configuration
PR](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/15132) but doesn't seem
like that initial batch of renovation happened.

Add initial FreeBSD support (#20480)
This PR adds initial support for FreeBSD
(https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/15309). While there is
still work left to be done, it seems to be usable. As discussed by
@syobocat (https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/discussions/10247), the
changes were just adding ```target_os = "freebsd"``` to wherever it
checks if the OS is Linux.

![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/80ea5b29-047f-4cbd-8263-42e5fa6c94b7)

Needs to be build with ```RUSTFLAGS="-C link-dead-code"```

Known Issues:
- There's an issue in ```crates/project/src/environment.rs``` where a
command fails because ```/bin/sh``` on FreeBSD doesn't support the
```-l``` option.
![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/c3c38633-160f-4f47-8840-e3da67f6ebc8)
- The file/folder choosers provided by the ```ashpd``` crate don't work
on FreeBSD (at least with KDE). This isn't that bad since a fallback
dialog is used.
![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/29373006-1eb9-4ed0-bd52-2d0047fab418)
- Moving to trash won't work.
- Numerous tests fail (when running on FreeBSD). While I haven't looked
into this much, it appears that the corresponding features seem to work
fine.
gpui: Bump crates resvg and usvg to 0.44.0 (#20067)
Closes #17388
Release Notes:
- N/A
We are using gpui to build a project, and we want to render SVGs with
the `<text>` tag. We use `resvg` and `usvg` with the same version as
gpui, like `0.41.0`. However, when we enable the feature `text`, we get
an error from `usvg`.
```shell
error[E0061]: this function takes 3 arguments but 2 arguments were supplied
  --> /Users/madcodelife/.cargo/git/checkouts/zed-23e65a6dff445450/e681a4b/crates/gpui/src/svg_renderer.rs:49:20
   |
49 |         let tree = usvg::Tree::from_data(bytes, &usvg::Options::default())?;
   |                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^---------------------------------- argument #3 of type `&Database` is missing
   |
```
This error occurs because when the `text` feature is enabled, the
`form_data` function needs an extra argument, `fontdb`.
[The code is
here](fb7e28513f/crates/usvg/src/parser/mod.rs (L98)).
They changed the API in version
[`0.42.0`](b1d06e9463/crates/usvg/src/parser/mod.rs (L98)).
So, I updated the versions to the latest (0.44.0).
windows: Remove the use of DispatcherQueue and fix FileSaveDialog unresponsive issue (#17946)
Closes #17069, closes #12410
With the help of @kennykerr (Creator of C++/WinRT and the crate
`windows-rs`, Engineer on the Windows team at Microsoft) and @riverar
(Windows Development expert), we discovered that this bug only occurs
when an IME with a candidate window, such as Microsoft Pinyin IME, is
active. In this case, the `FileSaveDialog` becomes unresponsive—while
the dialog itself appears to be functioning, it doesn't accept any mouse
or keyboard input.
After a period of debugging and testing, I found that this issue only
arises when using `DispatcherQueue` to dispatch runnables on the UI
thread. After @kennykerr’s further investigation, Kenny identified that
this is a bug with `DispatcherQueue`, and he recommended to avoid using
`DispatcherQueue`. Given the uncertainty about whether Microsoft will
address this bug in the foreseeable future, I have removed the use of
`DispatcherQueue`.
x11: Fix preedit for CJK and partially fix unresponsive keyboard with xim (#17373)
Closes #15833
Related to [#12495
comment](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/12495#issuecomment-2328356125)
Destroying and recreating the Input context was the only way to reset
the IME but it's making the keyboard unresponsive sometimes due to a XIM
error.
The keyboard will still be unresponsive if you close your IME while
using zed, but I don't know how to fix this.
* Fixed preedit drawing for CJK
* Fixed unresponsive keyboard by properly implementing reset_ic in
`xim-rs`
[Compare
Source](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/compare/v0.68.1...v0.69.0)
#### Added
- Added the `ParseCallbacks::header_file` callback which runs on every
filename passed to `Builder::header`.
- Added the `CargoCallbacks::new` constructor which emits a cargo-rerun
line
    for every input header file by default.
- Added the `CargoCallbacks::rerun_on_header_files` method to configure
whether
    a cargo-rerun line should be emitted for every input header file.
#### Changed
- The `--wrap-static-fns` feature was updated so function types that has
no
    argument use `void` as its sole argument.
-   `CargoCallbacks` is no longer a [unit-like
struct](https://doc.rust-lang.org/reference/items/structs.html) and the
`CargoCallbacks` constant was added to mitigate the breaking nature of
this
change. This constant has been marked as deprecated and users will have
to
    use the new `CargoCallbacks::new` method in the future.
#### Removed
#### Fixed
-   Allow compiling `bindgen-cli` with a static libclang.
- Emit an opaque integer type for pointer types that don't have the same
size
    as the target's pointer size.
- Avoid escaping Objective-C method names unless they are `Self`,
`self`,
    `crate` or `super`.
#### Security
###
[`v0.68.1`](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/blob/HEAD/CHANGELOG.md#0681)
[Compare
Source](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/compare/v0.68.0...v0.68.1)
#### Fixed
-   Fixed errors on the windows artifact build process.
###
[`v0.68.0`](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/blob/HEAD/CHANGELOG.md#0680)
[Compare
Source](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/compare/v0.66.1...v0.68.0)
#### Added
- The `system` ABI is now supported as an option for the
`--override-abi` flag.
- The `allowlist_item` method and the `--allowlist-item` flag have been
    included to filter items regardless or their kind.
-   Include installers as release artifacts on Github.
#### Changed
- The `Clone` implementation for `_BindgenUnionField` has been changed
to pass
    the `incorrect_clone_impl_on_copy_type` Clippy lint.
- The `c_unwind` ABI can be used without a feature gate for any Rust
target version
    equal to or greater than 1.71.
    This comes as a result of the ABI being stabilised (in Rust 1.71).
- Formatting changes when using prettyplease as a formatter due to a new
    prettyplease version.
- Avoid generating invalid `CStr` constants when using the
`--generate-cstr`
    option.
#### Removed
- The `extra_assert` and `extra_assert_eq` macros are no longer
exported.
#### Fixed
- Bindgen no longer panics when parsing an objective-C header that
includes a
Rust keyword that cannot be a raw identifier, such as: `self`, `crate`,
    `super` or `Self`.
###
[`v0.66.1`](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/blob/HEAD/CHANGELOG.md#0661)
[Compare
Source](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/compare/v0.66.0...v0.66.1)
#### Removed
- Revert source order sorting
([#2543](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/issues/2543))
due to correctness regressions
[#2558](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/issues/2558).
###
[`v0.66.0`](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/blob/HEAD/CHANGELOG.md#0660)
[Compare
Source](https://togithub.com/rust-lang/rust-bindgen/compare/v0.65.1...v0.66.0)
#### Added
- Added the `--generate-cstr` CLI flag to generate string constants as
`&CStr`
    instead of `&[u8]`. (Requires Rust 1.59 or higher.)
- Added the `--generate-shell-completions` CLI flag to generate
completions for
    different shells.
- The `--wrap-static-fns` option can now wrap `va_list` functions as
variadic functions
    with the experimental `ParseCallbacks::wrap_as_variadic_fn` method.
-   Add target mappings for riscv32imc and riscv32imac.
- Add the `ParseCallbacks::field_visibility` method to modify field
visibility.
#### Changed
- Non-UTF-8 string constants are now generated as references (`&[u8;
SIZE]`)
    instead of arrays (`[u8; SIZE]`) to match UTF-8 strings.
- Wrappers for static functions that return `void` no longer contain a
`return`
    statement and only call the static function instead.
- The `--wrap-static-fns` option no longer emits wrappers for static
variadic
    functions.
- Depfiles generated with `--depfile` or `Builder::depfile` will now
properly
generate module names and paths that include spaces by escaping them. To
make
    the escaping clear and consistent, backslashes are also escaped.
- Updated `bitflags` dependency to 2.2.1. This changes the API of
`CodegenConfig`.
- Prettyplease formatting is gated by an optional, enabled by default
Cargo
    feature when depending on `bindgen` as a library.
- Items are now parsed in the order they appear in source files. This
may result in
    auto-generated `_bindgen_*` names having a different index.
- Use default visibility for padding fields: Previously, padding fields
were
always public. Now, they follow the default visibility for the type they
are
    in.
- Compute visibility of bitfield unit based on actual field visibility:
A
bitfield unit field and its related functions now have their visibility
determined based on the most private between the default visibility and
the
    actual visibility of the bitfields within the unit.
#### Removed
-   Remove redundant Cargo features, which were all implicit:
- bindgen-cli: `env_logger` and `log` removed in favor of `logging`
    -   bindgen (lib):
        -   `log` removed in favor of `logging`
        -   `which` removed in favor of `which-logging`
        -   `annotate-snippets` removed in favor of `experimental`
-   Prettyplease is available as a `Formatter` variant now.
